Haldiram’s ‘Navratri Mixture’ packaging raises eyebrows, here is how netizens reacted

New Delhi: Haldiram, one of the popular food brand, found itself in the crosshairs of netizens on Wednesday over packaging of its namkeen – Falhari Mixture. The namkeen is a hot selling snack of Haldiram but its ‘packaging in Urdu’ is what have irked people.

The matter came to light after a video of reporter-Haldiram store manager confrontation went viral on Twitter. The reporter repeatedly questions latter on why the packet had Urdu guidelines & not Hindi. Store manager tried to settle the matter with her clarification but couldn’t justify why Urdu content on snack meant for fasting.

Haldiram website itself claims that the Haldiram Falhari Mixture is specially meant for Navratri & other fasting days and it is specially made with ingredients used during fasting days.

The video has created a flutter on the social media and received more than 10 lakh views. It has also triggered many reactions from netizens. Many have questioned company’s intentions behind such controversy while others remained inquisitive about why the description in Urdu language.

Some others who were highly critical of the brand for choosing Urdu over Hindu. A Twitter user compared it to Halal Food and wrote, “Haldiram using URDU print on its packet of Falhari Mixture – are they serving Halal Food to “H”?”.
