New Delhi: Randeep Surjewala, Congress national spokesperson & a close aide of Rahul Gandhi, had a slip of tongue moment at the press conference on Thursday.
Surjewala, while training guns at the Centre over soaring prices & inflation, made a blunder and said that history shows that Maa Sita had to undergo ‘Cheer haran’.
Senior Congress leader said that today’s dispensation at Centre has gone extra mile in discrediting the democratic institutions and is eroding its significance, much like what happened with Maa Sita. He was actually referring to Draupadi of Maharashtra, who was disrobed in front of 5 Pandavs and the entire sabha, however he erred & mentioned the name of Lord Ram’s wife Sita.
Surjewala, an erudite & highly skilled orator, puts his party’s views & stand on all issues of national importance forcefully & vigorously. He is one of the leading voices of party, whose articulation of views/opinion is admired & applauded by parties across the spectrum. However, the blooper by Congress spokesperson was quickly spotted by netizens, who took no time in calling him out for the inadvertent error or slip of tongue.
Randeep Surjewala was addressing the press over upcoming Rajya Sabha election tomorrow. Brushing aside any risk for Congress candidates in the run-up to RS polls, he said that party will emerge victorious again while the clever tactics & money power of rival/Independent candidates will be demolished.
He said that Congress candidates including him are confident of victory in RS polls and all ‘evil designs’ of rivals will be defeated. In the Rajya Sabha elections slated for June 10, Congress has fielded 3 candidates from Rajasthan namely Pramod Tiwari, Mukul Wasnik & Randeep Surjewala.
