Washington: India and China are involved in a prolonged territorial dispute in Ladakh with the Indian Army and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) amassing massive amounts of military forces along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Meanwhile, China is involved in territorial disputes with all its neighbouring countries.

The United States (US) is also very angry with the aggressive military actions of China on the LAC in Ladakh.

China has recently declared not only Ladakh but also Arunachal Pradesh as a disputed area. However, now India has got the US’ support on this issue.

The US said that it considers Arunachal Pradesh to be a part of India for the last 60 years and there is no change in this policy. The US Congress has also urged President Donald Trump to take decisive action against China.

“For nearly six decades the US has recognized Arunachal Pradesh is Indian territory. We strongly oppose any unilateral attempts to advance territorial claims by incursions, by military or civilian incursions across the established Line of Actual Control,” the US Department of State said in a statement.

“We have – our position on some parts of the border for sure is explicitly clear. For nearly six decades, the US has recognized that Arunachal Pradesh is Indian territory. We strongly oppose any unilateral attempts to advance territorial claims by incursions, by military or civilian incursions across the established LAC,” the statement said.

“You just have to open your internet browser to see all of the various areas where China has engaged in aggressive, hostile, or bullying behaviour against its neighbours or against its own citizens. Unfortunately, India has also been one of the victims of that,” the statement added.

A senior official of the  US Department of State asserted that the US committed to continue its military co-operation with India.

“At a time when India is facing substantial security challenges, the growth in our defense partnership is exceptionally important. This partnership includes defense sales, particularly our offers of advanced US weapon systems, as a demonstration of our commitment to India’s security and sovereignty.

“Interoperability between our military services has reached unprecedented levels, as demonstrated by the Tiger Triumph exercise last year and the Indian Navy’s recent passage exercise with the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group in the Indian Ocean.”
