New Delhi: After surviving an early scare against Belgium’s Julien Carraggi, Lakshya Sen is set to face the toughest opponent of the group, Indonesia’s World No. 3 Jonatan Christie. Sen and Christie both share a fierce on-court rivalry which has a little history to it. Naturally, when the two shuttlers meet tomorrow there will be a fierce exchange of emotions on the court as Sen tries to salvage a win for himself.

Head-to-head record of Lakshya Sen against Jonatan Christie

Let us look at how the rivalry between Lakshya Sen and Jonatan Christie unfolded over the years:

Asian Championships (February 2020)- Lakshya Sen’s first meeting with the Indonesian was during the Asian Championship where Sen thwarted the Indonesian to win the game in straight sets (21-18, 22-20).

Indonesia Masters (January 2023)- The next encounter between the two occurred during the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Masters. Christie managed to redeem himself from the defeat of February 2020 as he was able to salvage a hard-fought win (15-21, 21-10 and 21-13).

Japan Open (July 2023)- In the next match between Lakshya and Jonatan, the Indian tried to dethrone the Indonesian. However, Jonatan managed to outclass Sen once again as he won the match 21-15, 13-21 and 21-16.

All-England Open (March 2024)- The two shuttlers met once again at the prestigious All-England Open. Once again Christie managed to come from behind and win the match 21-12, 10-21 and 21-15. The match had many ups and downs but in the end, Lakshya Sen succumbed to an agonising defeat.

Thomas Cup (May 2024)- Lakshya and Jonatan met most recently during the Thomas Cup 2024. The game by now had become a heated rivalry between the two and was visible throughout the match. In the end, with a scoreline of 21-18, 16-21 and 21-17, the match ended in favour of Jonatan Christie.
