New Delhi: The Kerala Story, a movie by Sudipto Sen, is doing well at the box office. The movie, which stars Adah Sharma, has made the headlines world wide ring thanks to great word of mouth. After only 9 days in theatres, the film surpassed the $100 million mark.
On day 11, the movie made Rs 10 crore at the box office, according to early projections. The current total is Rs 146.74 crore, and it appears the movie will soon join the exclusive Rs 150 crore club at the domestic box office.
The movie was embroiled in a number of problems even before it was released, but this didn’t have an impact on how well it did at the box office. The Kerala Story reportedly became the second-highest-grossing Hindi movie of 2023. The actress Adah recently experienced a car accident with her crew on Sunday, May 14. She has now confirmed that everyone is okay and there is no need to be concerned.
In addition to Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani play important roles in the movie. Sudipto Sen directed and wrote it, and it centres on Kerala’s forcible conversion of non-Muslim females. It was charged with “falsely claiming” that 32,000 women were recruited for terror missions after becoming radicalised.
The Kerala Story has been banned from screening in West Bengal, according to the most recent sources, and the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) has denounced the decision, calling it “unjustified” and a grave infringement of the right of free speech. Additionally, the restriction was put in place by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to preserve state tranquilly.
