Delhi: TMC leader Babul Supriyo today formally resigned as BJP MP. He submitted his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Speaking to reporters after submitting his resignation , he said his heart is heavy as he had began his political career through BJP.
He even thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP party chief Amit Shah.
“Confidence was shown in me. I’d left politics wholeheartedly.I thought that if I’m not a part of the party, I shouldn’t keep seat for myself,” he said.
Taking about Suvendu Adhikari, Babul Supriyo said that he was an integral part of TMC a few months back.
“Outside politics he has been a friend, he obviously has to say very harsh things about me politically. But he should advise his father & brother to resign from MP seats as they’re no more a part of TMC,” Babul Supriyo said.
On Monday, he had informed that he will be reigning formally as an MP.
In a tweet, Babul Supriyo had earlier thanked Speaker Om Birla for granting him time at 11 am on Tuesday to formally resign as an MP. Babul Supriyo had said, “I will not hold on to the Berth/Perks/Salary of a MP now that I am no longer a part of BJP that I won the seat for.”
