New Delhi, Entire Kerala has been on a red alert since Wednesday evening. A total of 88 deaths were reported on the day. As part of its ‘Operation Madad’, the Southern Naval Command deployed 21 rescue and diving teams with Gemini boats as the situation deteriorated across the southern state where 19 people lost their lives since Tuesday evening due to the incessant downpour, forcing authorities to issue a red alert.
Thousands of flood-affected people in Kerala — mostly in Pathanamthitta and parts of Ernakulam and Thrissur — have been stranded as rescuers battle heavy rains to reach out to them even as the death toll in the unprecedented floods rose to 88 on Thursday.
Reliance Jio has also taken a step to help the flood-hit areas of Kerala by extending a complimentary 7 days Unlimited Voice and data pack to its users. Considering the same Jio’s rival Bharti Airtel is also offering talk time credit, data, and extended the date of bill payments as part of relief measures in the flood-hit Kerala for its customers. Bharti Airtel prepaid mobile subscribers will also get auto approved Talk Time credit of up to Rs. 30. Apart from this, the telecom operator will also give 1GB data for all prepaid users in Kerala that will be valid for seven days.
