Akshay Kumar donates Rs 1 crore to Gautam Gambhir Foundation for fight against Covid-19


New Delhi: With Covid cases rising exponentially across the country and death toll taking a sharp jump, social workers, celebrity figures along with social media all are chipping in with their support in cash or kind.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has come forward and extended Rs 1 crore fund to help arrange food, medicines and oxygen for those in need.

Akshay Kumar donated this amount in Gautam Gambhir Foundation. Delhi MP also thanked superstar Akshay Kumar for donating Rs 1 crore to Gautam Gambhir Foundation (GGF) for those in need amid these testing times.

“Every help in this gloom comes as a ray of hope. Thanks a lot @akshaykumar for committing Rs 1 crore to #GGF for food, meds and oxygen for the needy! God bless

Actor Akshay Kumar was tested positive for COVID-19 in first week of April.

In a tweet, he wrote: “I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself. I’m under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care.”

Akshay Kumar’s COVID-19 diagnsis happened at a time when he was busy with the shooting schedule of Ram Setu, in which he plays an archaeologist.
