Priyanka Chopra denies flouting covid-19 guidelines in UK. Police alerted

New Delhi: Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra Jonas was spotted outside the salon in the UK on Wednesday, with her mother Madhu Chopra and pet Diana. Her visit comes at a time when the whole nation is locked inside the house due to covid-19 induced lockdown.

Priyanka has been shooting in London for her upcoming film Text For You. The actress has been stranded in the city ever since the UK PM Boris Johnson announced the nationwide lockdown in the wake of new covid variants found in the region and South Africa. Reportedly, Priyanka was held responsible for flouting the lockdown by the Metropolitan Police and was given a “verbal warning” for the same. However, the actress’ manager has cited that Priyanka was given the permission to visit salon as she has a shoot ahead. ” She legally exempted from the rule,” her spokesperson said.

“The salon was opened privately for the production and everyone involved had been tested and followed both the DCMS working guidelines and the film production regulations. As I am sure you are aware, Film and TV production is permitted to continue in the UK, and locations can continue to accommodate shoots and recces that are carried out in line with government guidelines. The exemption paperwork legally permitting her to be there was provided to the police, and they left satisfied,” the statement added.

On the other hand, Metropolitan police official told Metro.co.uk, “Police were alerted at around 17:40hrs on Wednesday, 6 January to reports of a Covid breach taking place within a hairdresser on Lansdowne Mews, Notting Hill. Officers attended and the owner of the salon was given a verbal reminder of the important need to comply with all regulations regarding Covid-19 and signposted to other sources of advice. No fixed penalty notices were issued.”

The actress representative told the Metro.co.uk, “Following government guidelines, Priyanka’s hair was coloured for the purpose of the film she is currently shooting in London. The salon was opened privately and everyone involved has been tested and followed both the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sports guidelines, as well as film production regulations,The paperwork legally permitting Priyanka and Josh to be there was provided to the authorities who were satisfied by it.”

The team of celebrity hairstylist Josh Wood, whose salon Priyanka had visited, captioned the following statement with, “Following recent press articles, Josh would like to share the above statement with his valued community.

We have absolute respect for the government regulations and have worked incredibly hard throughout the last 10 months to ensure we not only comply but go above and beyond to ensure the safety of our employees and our clients”.

Meanwhile, Priyanka was last seen in ‘We are Heroes’ and recently annouced that the film will have a sequal. She will also be seen in ‘The White Tiger’ along with Rajkumar Rao in Netflix on 22 January 2021.
