New Delhi: After the Disney Plus Hotstar announcement of digital release of as many as seven Bollywood films like Sushant Singh Rajput’s film Dil Bechara, Akshay Kumar’s Laxxmi Bomb, Alia Bhatt’s Sadak 2, The Big Bull, Bhuj: The Pride of India, Lootcase and Khuda Haafiz, cinema chains have also made big announcement.
A news announcement has been made by cinema chains including INOX, Carnival Cinemas, PVR and Wave Cinemas that Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh’s sports drama 83 will have theatrical release. Talking about Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, it will release on Diwali while 83 will release on Christmas this year.
Confirming the news, Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar in an interview with Bollywood Hungama said, “Yes, both Sooryavanshi and 83 are confirmed for Diwali and Christmas, respectively. We are committed to bring both Sooryavanshi and 83 in theaters whenever the exhibitors are open and whenever the audiences feel safe and comfortable to come back to cinemas. We feel and we hope that by Diwali and Christmas, the situation will be normal.”
Sooryavanshi, which was earlier scheduled to release on March 27, also features Katrina Kaif, Sikander Kher, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover and Abhimanyu Singh.
Meanwhile, 83 film is helmed by Kabir Khan and features Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Hardy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi and Jiva.
Sooryavanshi, yet another instalment in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, was scheduled to release on March 27, but got postponed due to the spread of coronavirus. It stars Akshay Kumar in the titular role along with Katrina Kaif, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Jackie Shroff and Sikander Kher.
