New Delhi, aking a dig at Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has asserted that he would prefer to die rather than insult the Prime Minister’s parents.

Speaking at a rally in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Gandhi made the comments in the context of Modi accusing his father, former PM Rajiv Gandhi, of being involved in corruption.

“I don’t hate anyone …. But Narendra Modi ji talks with hatred. He insults my father, grandmother, great grandfather. But I will never in my life speak about his family, his mother and father. I will die, but will never insult his mother and father,” Rahul said.

“This is because I am not an RSS man or a BJP man, but I am a Congressman. If hatred is thrown at me I will give love in return. We will defeat Modi ji with love,” he added.

On Tuesday, the Congress chief addressed three election meetings in the Ujjain, Neemuch and Khandwa districts. These are a part of the Malwa-Nimad region which goes to the polls during the seventh and last phase on May 19.

Later on Tuesday, while addressing a rally in Neemuch in support of Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan, Gandhi made fun of the PM’s remarks on the Balakot air strikes.

In an interview to television channel News Nation on Saturday, PM Modi had shared his account of how the Balakot airstrikes were carried out after the Pulwama terror attack which martyred 40 CRPF jawans in Jammu & Kashmir.

PM Modi’s comments have generated great amount criticism as well as ridicule on social media. While opposition leader Sitaram Yechury claimed that its a violation on Model Code of Conduct as he revealed sensitive information on defence.

“Narendra Modi told officers and Air Chief of Air Force, “It’ll be beneficial, radar won’t be able to track aircraft in bad weather”. Narendra Modi ji, whenever it rains in India, do all the aircraft disappear from the radar?” the Congress President said.

Rahul Gandhi also took a dig at the Prime Minister’s ‘non-political interview’ with actor Akshay Kumar, in which he said that he loved mangoes as a child and still loves them.

“Modi ji, you taught (us) how to eat mangoes; now tell the country what you did for jobless youth in the past five years,” Rahul said.

Rahul Gandhi also commented on PM Modi’s sleep pattern which he revealed in the interview. Rahul said that Modi sleeps for three hours, but Meenakshi Natarajan sleeps for 5 hours but works diligently and does not lie.

Rahul Gandhi also attacked Shivraj Singh in his speech. Rahul said that Kamal Nath showed me that the Congress has forgiven the debt of two Rohit Singh and Niranjan Singh of Shivraj Singh’s family. There is evidence of that also.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel were also present. After the meeting, Rahul left for Ujjain where he would address the public meeting.
