Jammu, An army soldier was killed and four terrorists were shot dead in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. The Shopian encounter ended after a fierce gunfight between militants and a joint team of forces since midnight. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot.
Based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Nadigam area of Shopian, security forces launched a cordon and search operation, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired on the forces, who retaliated.
There was a ceasefire violation by Pakistan at LOC in Poonch sector. Three shells have landed near Poonch army brigade headquarters.
