Three encounters between security forces, terrorists underway in J-K

Jammu,  An army soldier, a civilian and a terrorist were killed after fierce encounters broke out at three places in Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter started between militants and forces at Qazigund Doru in Anantnag South Kashmir. Still, 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped, mobile and internet services snapped in the area. The operation is still going on.
The encounter started between militants and joint forces at Noorbagh Qamarwari in Srinagar. The soldier and the terrorist were killed during a pre-dawn encounter at Dooru in Anantnag district, 58 km from Srinagar. Firing has stopped now. A search operation is underway as the security forces suspect more terrorists could be hiding in the area.

At present, another cordon and search operation is going on at Panzan Budgam following input about the presence of militants.

In Srinagar, a gunfight broke out at Noorbagh after security forces launched an operation following intelligence inputs that some terrorists could be hiding at a house in the area. The house owner was killed during the operation.

Police sources said the terrorists have escaped from the house and are believed to be hiding in a nearby place. A search operation is underway to track them down, the police said.

In a third encounter, the security forces are engaging three terrorists who have taken control of a religious place in Budgam after they fled from a house where they had been hiding. Qazigund Anantnag Encounter has ended operation is still on at Panzan Budgam where two militants have been trapped in a local mosque. As per sources, both the trapped militants are local among them one is J&K Police SPO turned militants.

A cordon and search operation was also launched in Noorbagh area of Srinagar city in wee hours today.

Reports said that a civilian has been killed in alleged security forces firing at Noorbagh area.

Security sources said that no contact was established with the suspected militants and as such, no gunfight has ensued in the area. They said that Operation in the Noorbagh area may be called off shortly. Local sources said that the tension has gripped the area after news broke out about the killing of the civilian allegedly in the security forces’ firing in wee hours.

The high-speed mobile internet services have been snapped in Srinagar, Anantnag and Budgam districts as security measures, restrictions and curfew have been also imposed in parts of downtown Srinagar.
