Chandu Champion Review: Movie presents a promising adrenaline-fueled story

New Delhi: Today, June 14, 2024, Kabir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala have teamed up to present Murlikant Petkar’s Chandu Champion, the narrative of India’s first Paralympic gold winner, into a film. As a sports drama, Chandu Champion is sure to keep you captivated with its many engaging elements.

Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold winner, is the main character of this film. Beginning with his boyhood and continuing through his military career, it covers his whole life’s adventure, culminating in his gold medal triumph for India.

Plot
Set in the backdrop of the 1965 conflict, the film opens with the gun injury of Murlikant Petkar. A former boxer, soldier, and swimmer, Murlikant Petkar’s life is chronicled in the film. During the Indo-Pakistani War, Petkar served in the Indian Army and his experiences there are on display. Murlikant was wounded and 2,862 Indian troops were killed in this fight in 1965.

Petkar was tragically left with a lifelong physical impairment after being hit by nine gunshots. Unfortunately, his spine still bears the marks of one of those gunshots. The film is a tribute to his challenging life.

In Chandu Champion, Kartik Aaryan stars as Murlikant Petkar including a stellar ensemble – Bhuvan Arora, Yashpal Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, Aniruddh Dave, Vijay Raaz, Palak Lalwani, Bhagyashri Borse, Adonis Kapsalis, Hemangi Kavi, and many more.

Kabir Khan directed the film, and he co-wrote the screenplay with Sumit Arora and Sudipto Sarkar. The movie was co-produced by Kabir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala.

The director has made excellent use of each musical score. A tale is told via the words of each song, which have a background. Milka Singh was also briefly mentioned at the beginning of the film, which is rather interesting.

The actor Kartik Aaryan excels in the role of a multi-faceted protagonist. People are claiming that Kartik Aaryan gives his finest performance to date in Chandu Champion, especially when compared to his other works. With pinpoint accuracy, he has rendered every scene’s emotional range.

It was a solid performance by Vijay Raaz. Bhuvan Arora, Yashpal Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, and others’ acting chops were undeniably impressive. They were also superbly portrayed by other characters in the movie.
