Who is Kapil Raj, ED’s Additional Director who arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal?

New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate’s Additional Director Kapil Raj made headlines after he lead the ED team which arrested Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Liquor Policy case. Kapil Raj is also investigating the Liquor Policy case. Before arresting Kejriwal, he was interrogated by the ED Officials. He also arrested Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren two months ago in an alleged Money laundering case.

Who is Kapil Raj?
Kapil Raj is the chief of the ED (Enforcement Directorate) of the Ranchi Zone. He is a 2009 batch IAS officer. He was made the Additional Director of the Enforcement Directorate in 2023. He will be continue working as the Additional Director till 2024. He was also posted in West Bengal earlier. Kapil Raj was the officer who arrested Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren two months ago. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren also filed a complaint against the ED officer Kapil Raj, Assistant Director Devvrat Jha, Anupam Kumar and others. Hemant Soren filed this complaint against the ED raids in his Delhi residence. Kapil Raj is currently investigating many high profile cases like Money Laundering case in Jharkhand, land scam, Liquor Policy case etc.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is arrested by the ED officers last night in connection with the Liquor Policy case. Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is also serving Jail term in the same case. AAP leaders launched massive nation wide protest against the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. According to the AAP, Kejriwal will remain the Chief Minister of Delhi and he will continue his duties from the Jail. He was produced before the special court for hearing today. Arvind Kejriwal was quoted saying ‘ “My life is dedicated to the country, whether I am inside (jail) or outside,” after he was produced in the Rouse Avenue Court.
