New Delhi: Jawan, starring megastar Shah Rukh Khan, is smashing box office records, and raising industry standards. The massive action flick opened to an amazing Rs 75 crores all-India nett on September 7. Early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk indicate that the film grossed Rs 81 crores on Sunday, surpassing even that day 1 record. As a result, it has the largest single-day collection of all time.
The Hindi and Tamil/Telugu versions of Jawan each contributed to the film’s first collection of 65.5 crores and 5.5 crores/4 crores in India. It makes the total collection of Rs 75 crores on Day 1. On Friday (Day 2), it made Rs 53.23 crores, and on Saturday (Day 3), it made Rs 77.83 crores. According to Sacnilk, the film has earned a total of about Rs 287.06 crores, including Rs 81 crores on Sunday (Day 4).
Also, as per Sacnilk, on Sunday, Jawan had an overall occupancy of 70.77 per cent for Hindi shows, 53.71 per cent for Tamil shows, and 68.79 per cent for Telugu showings.
Among Bollywood films, Jawan had the biggest opening weekend of the year, surpassing even Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. Gadar 2 earned Rs 134.88 crore in its first weekend. In its first weekend, Jawan also made more than Pathaan’s total of Rs 280.75 crore.
Film industry expert Manobala Vijayabalan tweeted the film’s Sunday earnings and wrote, “Jawan creates History. Sold a Record 2875961 tickets from tracked shows alone in India on the 4th day. Biggest ever for a Bollywood film. #ShahRukhKhan #Nayanthara #Jawan.”
