New Delhi: After Sourav Ganguly announced his biopic, the speculation began about who would play the lead role. Rumors suggested that either Ayushmann Khurrana or Ranbir Kapoor would portray Dada in the film. In May, mid-day reported that Ayushmann had secured the role. Now, according to recent reports, the shooting for the movie, directed by Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, is expected to commence in December.
Ayushmann Khurrana To Play ‘DADA’
As per a report from Mid-Day, Ayushmann Khurrana, renowned for his role in “Dream Girl 2,” has reportedly been chosen to portray Sourav Ganguly, aka Dada, in his biopic. Earlier, there were suggestions of Ranbir Kapoor being considered for the role, but Khurrana secured the part in the film directed by Aishwaryaa Rajnikanth. According to recent reports, filming for the biopic is set to commence in December.
Ayushmann Khurrana, acclaimed for his wholehearted approach to every role he takes on, is set to embark on an intensive training journey to fully immerse himself in the character of Sourav Ganguly.
With the added advantage of being a left-handed batter, similar to Ganguly, Ayushmann will find the transformation process somewhat easier. However, in order to capture Ganguly’s unique mannerisms, distinctive batting stance, and other key aspects, Ayushmann will undergo rigorous training that will delve into every intricate detail of the iconic cricketer’s persona.
Reports suggest that Sourav Ganguly, popularly known as Dada, is actively involved in the biopic based on his life. In fact, he has already met the actor who will be portraying him on the big screen. However, there is still uncertainty surrounding the filming location. It remains to be confirmed whether the first schedule of the film will take place in Mumbai or in Ganguly’s hometown of Kolkata, adding to the anticipation surrounding the production.
