New Delhi: Sanna Marin, Finland’s outgoing Prime Minister and her husband Markus Raikkonen announced divorce on Wednesday.
The announcement was made on Instagram.
In the seperate Instagram stories, they wrote that they are grateful for the 19 years together and our beloved daughter. They also said that they will remain best friends.
Sanna Marin and Markus Raikkonen got married in 2020.
Who is Marin?
Marin, 37, became world’s youngest prime minister in 2019.
Last month, she lost Finland’s general election to right-wing National Coalition Party and nationalist Finns Party.
Currently, her party-the National Coalition is negotiating to form a government with the Finns Party.
She became popular and made headlines during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Later in August 2022, videos were leaked on social media where she was seen partying with a group of Finnish celebrities, which resulted to her taking drug test to clear suspicions of wrongdoing.
Following this, several social media users came to her rescue, whicle some defended the right to her private life while others said that she was not fit for her office.
Although, Marin’s government formally resigned after loosing the election but is currently sevring on caretaker basis until the formation of new government.
