New Delhi: In a big development in the Jia Khan suicide case, the court acquitted actor Sooraj Pancholi of abatement charges.

The CBI court verdict comes almost 10 years after the suicide of fledgling actor Jia Khan.

Jia Khan, who worked with Amitabh Bachchan in movie ‘Nishabd’ was found dead at her Mumbai residence on June 3, 2013.

Police, initially, found it to be a case of suicide but later actor Sooraj Pancholi became an accused in the case, as both were apparently in affair when the actress committed suicide.

The Mumbai police after seizing her letter on June 10, 2013 and based on that booked actor Sooraj Pancholi under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) & arrested him.

Sooraj Pancholi is the son of Bollywood actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab.

However, Jiah Khan’s mother Rabia Khan insisted that her daughter was murdered and it was not a case of abetment in suicide.

Jiah’s mother had moved Bombay High Court in October 2013, demanding a CBI probe in the case.
