New Delhi: India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has become the only cricketer in the cricketing history to feature as the leading player in all three teams of the International Cricket Council (ICC) i.e. Test, ODIs & T20 Internationals.
Year 2023 has started on a promising note for Kohli as the cricketer, battling with poor batting form for quite sometime, is achieving new horizons of success. With today’s ICC list of T20 team of the year, he has become the only cricketer to have been selected in all three formats of the game.
Kohli took the Asia Cup by storm and was the second highest run scorer of the tournament. He regained his form with century against Afghanistan and then he shattered his ‘idol’ Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
In the Men’s T20I Team of the Year 2022, Suryakumar Yadav & all-rounder Hardik Pandya also featured along with Kolhi. England’s Joe Buttler was named captain of this ICC T20 team of the year. He led his side to T20 World Cup title last year.
Kohli picked 6 times in ODIs, thrice in Tests
Kohli has already featured many a times in the handpicked teams of ICC. He has featured thrice in ICC Test Team of The Year namely in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
He was picked for ICC’s ODI Team of The Year, six times in the year – 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019. With his inclusion in the ICC’s T20 team of the year, he achieved this distinction of being the only player to have achieved this rare feat.
The ICC is set to announce Men’s ODI Team of the Year, Women’s ODI Team of the Year and Men’s Test Team of the Year on Tuesday.
