Twitter has forged ahead with the deal, despite Musk\u2019s attempts to back out because of what he says are problems with the company\u2019s business, reported Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>Shareholders gave their assent to the deal on Tuesday, the company said. The vote took place during a short virtual meeting after brief remarks by Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal.<\/p>\n<p>A US judge on Wednesday (local time) gave a lifeline to Musk by allowing him to amend his complaint against Twitter but rejected delaying the lawsuit over the disintegration of the billionaire\u2019s deal to acquire the social media company.<\/p>\n<p>His attorneys had requested to amend his counterclaims after a whistleblower filed a complaint about Twitter\u2019s security practices, reported Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>In a mixed ruling, Kathaleen McCormick, the chancellor of the Delaware court, said Musk could add whistleblowing revelations from a Twitter ex-security chief that surfaced in August.<\/p>\n<p>But she denied his request to push back the litigation, saying prolonging the suit \u201cwould risk further harm to Twitter too great to justify.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk\u2019s attorneys argued to include allegations by Peiter Zatko, Twitter\u2019s former head of security, that the social media platform hid critical information from them as they pursued a deal to purchase it. They said they should be allowed to incorporate the new allegations and pushed to delay the trial, a request that was denied, reported Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>The former Twitter security chief Peiter Zatko last month made allegations on Twitter of wrongdoings including \u201cTwitter\u2019s tracking and measurement of user engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to US media outlet Axios, Musk\u2019s lawyers on August 29, filed a subpoena for Zatko, asking for \u201cdocuments and communications\u201d regarding a number of the alleged wrongdoings Zatko made.<\/p>\n<p>Musk sent a second deal termination letter to Twitter by \u201cleveraging\u201d on the recent allegations made by a social media giant whistleblower, media reports said.<\/p>\n<p>In the termination letter, Musk\u2019s lawyers argued that Zatko\u2019s allegations, \u201cif true, demonstrate that Twitter has breached\u201d a set of provisions from its merger agreement with Musk, including its compliance with all laws and that its assertion that it never filed misleading information to securities regulators.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington [US]: Twitter shareholders on Tuesday approved Tesla chief Elon Musk\u2019s USD 44 billion bid to buy the social media platform.
