New Delhi: Newly appointer Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today proved his government\u2019s majority in the Assembly following a vote by head count.<\/p>\n
Over 164 votes were polled in favour of Eknath Shinde, while 99 votes were polled against the newly formed BJP-Shinde camp coalition.<\/p>\n
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with 39 other MLAs rebelled against his Shiv Sena was scheduled to prove majority today in the Maharashtra Assembly.<\/p>\n
This comes a day after BJP\u2019s Rahul Narvekar was elected as the Speaker of the House with over 140 votes.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Chief whip of the Shiv Sena \u2013 Eknath Shinde faction- Bharat Gogawale has given a petition to the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker for the suspension of 16 party MLAs of the Uddhav Thackeray faction for violation of whip.<\/p>\n
