Washington [US]: After comedian Rosie O\u2019Donnell issued a public apology to Priyanka Chopra for falsely identifying her as the daughter of renowned author Deepak Chopra, the \u2018Mary Kom\u2019 star expressed her views on the same.<\/p>\n
Taking to Instagram, Priyanka penned a lengthy statement in which she called out the comedian for referring to her as \u201csomething Chopra\u201d and \u201cthe Chopra wife.\u201d
\n\u201cI have never taken myself so seriously to think everyone would know who I am, or my work for that matter. But if you wanted to make a public apology for a very awkward private encounter, I think probably best to take the time to google my name before doing it or even try to reach out directly,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
She added, \u201cWe ALL deserve to be respected for our unique individuality and not to be referred to as \u2018someone\u2019 or \u2018wife\u2019, especially in a sincere apology. If we can learn to respect our differences in an authentic way, the world we raise our children in will be amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n
For the unversed, a few days ago, Rosie took to Instagram and TikTok to share two videos in which she revealed what happened when she ran into Priyanka and her husband Nick Jonas.<\/p>\n
In the first video, Rosie said that she and her son and his girlfriend spotted Nick and Priyanka out on a date.<\/p>\n
\u201cSeated next to us were Nick Jonas and his wife \u2018someone\u2019 Chopra, which I always assumed was Deepak Chopra\u2019s daughter,\u201d she said in the video.<\/p>\n
While talking to Priyanka, she said she knew her dad. \u201cShe was like, \u2018You do? Who\u2019s my dad?\u2019 I\u2019m like \u2018Deepak\u2019. She was like \u2018No. And Chopra is a common name\u2019. I felt so embarrassed,\u201d<\/p>\n
Rosie said in the video and asked if she was the only one who always thought Priyanka was Deepak\u2019s daughter.<\/p>\n
Rosie\u2019s apology clearly did not go down well with Priyanka.<\/p>\n
In her post, Priyanka even reiterated that not everyone that shares the same last name is related to one another.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I\u2019ve said before, not all Chopra\u2019s are related to the great Deepak Chopra just as not all Smith\u2019s are related to the legendary Will Smith,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n
