New Delhi: With the sudden surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in India, some countries have banned travel to and from India or have curtailed it in some form or the other. As per the recent update, Emirates will suspend flights between Dubai and India for 10 days from Sunday amid the deadly surge in COVID-19 cases in India. <\/p>\n
Here is the list of countries that have issued orders on travel from India. (This list will be updated as more news comes in)<\/p>\n
United Kingdom<\/p>\n
Amid the COVID-19 surge, Air India has cancelled all its flights from and to the United Kingdom from April 24 to 30 after the UK added India to its travel \u201cred list\u201d.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Air India said, \u201cPassengers who were to travel between India and UK may note that in view of recent restrictions announced by the UK, flights from or to the UK stand cancelled from April 24 to April 30.\u201d<\/p>\n
Further updates regarding rescheduling, refunds and waivers will be informed later, it added.<\/p>\n
USA<\/p>\n
The US has not banned travel to and from India but Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advised Americans to avoid all travel to India even if they are vaccinated.<\/p>\n
CDC placed India among \u201clevel 4\u201d countries, or those with \u201cvery high\u201d levels of Covid-19 cases. \u201cBecause of the current situation in India even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading Covid-19 variants and should avoid all travel to India,\u201d CDC said.<\/p>\n
France <\/p>\n
France will impose a 10-day quarantine for travellers arriving from India in the coming days to prevent the spread of a COVID-19 variant found in India, the country\u2019s government spokesperson announced on Wednesday. This comes as nearly 3 lakh new COVID-19 cases and over 2,000 deaths were reported in India on Wednesday, a record-high since the pandemic broke out last year.<\/p>\n
Australia<\/p>\n
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced that it will stop almost one-third of flights coming from India, The Guardian has reported. The Australian Cabinet has decided to place restrictions on travel to and from India.<\/p>\n
\u201cTravellers from high-risk countries, including India, will be required to have a PCR Covid-19 test 72 hours prior to leaving the last port they are in before travelling to Australia,\u201d the report says.<\/p>\n
Singapore<\/p>\n
Singapore on Tuesday, April 20, in the wake of the rising COVID-19 cases announced that Covid-19 border measures will be tightened for travellers from India, who will have to stay at home for an additional seven days after the mandatory 14-day stay at dedicated facilities.<\/p>\n
The announcement by the Ministry of Health came as the entry approvals for non-Singapore citizens and non-permanent residents are being reduced with immediate effect.<\/p>\n
Hong Kong<\/p>\n
Hong Kong has announced the suspension of all flights connecting with India for 14 days starting Tuesday amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the region. The authorities have also suspended flights from Pakistan and the Philippines.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government announced today (April 18) the invocation of the place-specific flight suspension mechanism for India, Pakistan, and the Philippines. From 00:00 on April 20, all passenger flights from these places will be prohibited from landing in Hong Kong for 14 days,\u201d the government said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Pakistan<\/p>\n
Pakistan has also imposed a ban on travellers from India for the next two weeks. The ban came into effect on Monday, April 19.<\/p>\n
Oman<\/p>\n
