{"id":5966,"date":"2021-03-10T08:15:45","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T08:15:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncrfrontlinenews.com\/?p=5966"},"modified":"2021-03-10T08:16:37","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T08:16:37","slug":"bafta-2021-nominations-adarsh-gourav-scores-nod-for-the-white-tiger-check-full-list-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncrfrontlinenews.com\/?p=5966","title":{"rendered":"BAFTA 2021 nominations: Adarsh Gourav scores nod for \u2018The White Tiger\u2019; check full list here"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washington [US]: The much-awaited nominations for this year\u2019s British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards were recently announced with \u2018Nomadland\u2019 and \u2018Rocks\u2019 leading the pack with seven nods each in the most diverse nominations list ever seen in the British Academy\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Bollywood actor Adarsh Gourav scored a best actor nomination for his performance in the 2021 Netflix film \u2018The White Tiger\u2019. \u2018Nomadland\u2019 is nominated for best film as well as best director, in addition to nominations in the adapted screenplay, leading actress, cinematography, editing, and sound categories, reported Variety.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, \u2018Rocks\u2019 is up for outstanding British film, as well as an outstanding debut by a British writer, director, or producer. The film is also nominated for best director, original screenplay, leading actress, supporting actress, and casting.<\/p>\n<p>Following closely behind with six nominations are \u2018The Father\u2019, \u2018Mank\u2019, \u2018Minari\u2019 and \u2018Promising Young Woman\u2019 while \u2018The Dig\u2019 and \u2018The Mauritanian\u2019 picked up five nods.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, in what serves as a first for BAFTA, four women have been nominated in the director category, which comes as a drastic shift from last year\u2019s all-male directing category.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 50 films received nominations for the 2021 ceremony, up from 39 films last year. A push to support new talent is also reflected in the nominations, with four of the five nominated films in outstanding debut also nominated across other categories.<\/p>\n<p>Lead actress nominees include Bukky Bakray (\u2018Rocks\u2019), Radha Blank (\u2018The Forty-Year-Old Version\u2019), Vanessa Kirby (\u2018Pieces of a Woman\u2019), Frances McDormand (\u2018Nomadland\u2019), Wunmi Mosaku (\u2018His House\u2019), and Alfre Woodard (\u2018Clemency\u2019).<\/p>\n<p>Lead actor nominees are Riz Ahmed (\u2018Sound of Metal\u2019), Chadwick Boseman (\u2018Ma Rainey\u2019s Black Bottom\u2019), Adarsh Gourav (\u2018The White Tiger\u2019), Anthony Hopkins (\u2018The Father\u2019), Mads Mikkelsen (\u2018Another Round\u2019) and Tahar Rahim (\u2018The Mauritanian\u2019).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, short film nominees include \u2018Eyelash,\u2019 \u2018Lizard,\u2019 \u2018Lucky Break,\u2019 \u2018Miss Curvy,\u2019 \u2018The Present,\u2019 \u2018The Fire Next Time,\u2019 \u2018The Owl and the Pussycat\u2019 and \u2018The Song of a Lost Boy.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>BAFTA last week revealed its Rising Star nominees.
