New Delhi: India opener Rohit Sharma was seen shadow practicing at the crease as Australia batting mainstay Steve Smith \u2014 who was accused of scuffing up the area around the batting crease during the third Test while Rishabh Pant was batting \u2014 looked on in the opening session of the fourth day of the final Test at The Gabba on Monday.<\/p>\n
India\u2019s Test deputy Rohit did some shadow practice in a jovial manner while changing ends after an over. Unlike Smith, there was no marking of guard from Rohit.<\/p>\n
On the final day of the third Test, Smith was seen scuffing up the area around the batting crease at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the batsman\u2019s gamesmanship was questioned on social media as Rishabh Pant had to take fresh guard.<\/p>\n
Smith was shocked and disappointed to see the reaction that came in after what the former skipper called a \u2018habit\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been quite shocked and disappointed by the reaction to this. It\u2019s something I do in games to visualise where we are bowling, how the batter is playing our bowlers and then out of habit I always mark centre,\u201d Smith told the Daily Telegraph, as reported by Fox Sports.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the final Test, Team India\u2019s batting coach Vikram Rathour said wicket-keeper batsman Pant was unaware of the \u2018pitch scuffing\u2019 done around the batting crease during the third Test.<\/p>\n
\u201cBasically, we didn\u2019t even know about the incident. We knew only after the game when the media picked it up. As a batsman, Rishabh Pant wasn\u2019t even aware. I wouldn\u2019t like to comment as it hardly mattered,\u201d Rathour said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
