New Delhi:\u00a0<\/strong>Today is the 151st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion, the country is remembering ‘Bapu’. Every year October 2 is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti.<\/p>\n

President Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have saluted\u00a0Mahatma Gandhi\u00a0on his birthday and asked the countrymen to take a pledge to follow the path of truth and non-violence.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister went to Rajghat and paid homage to\u00a0Gandhi. During this time a bhajan was also organized here on the occasion of\u00a0Gandhi\u00a0Jayanti.<\/p>\n

“We bow to beloved Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. There is much to learn from his life and noble thoughts. May Bapu\u2019s ideals keep guiding us in creating a prosperous and compassionate India,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n

“The 151st anniversary is a good occasion to think through our priorities in the light of Gandhiji\u2019s life and thought, and prepare ourselves again to hear his voice in our hearts,” President Ram Nath Kovind wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n

“Gandhiji has so much more to offer to us if we take lessons from his life, particularly when we are facing a pandemic. During the outbreak of a deadly plague, he flung himself into health care and sanitation duties that exemplified his selfless service,” he added.<\/p>\n

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tributes to Gandhi.<\/p>\n

“Gandhiji’s extraordinary personality and spiritual life showed the world the path of peace, non-violence and harmony. To fulfill their dream of increasing the use of Swadeshi, today the whole country is adopting Swadeshi with Modi ji’s resolve of self-reliant India. A tribute to him on Gandhi Jayanti,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Bapu’s birth anniversary, “Mahatma Gandhi’s life and philosophy are inspiration for all Indians. Along with agitating for India’s independence, he has also awakened us to a new vision and philosophy about truth, non-violence, swaraj and cleanliness.
