New Delhi: India’s star athlete Neeraj Chopra is set to head to Turkiye for training ahead of his 2023 season. The Olympic gold medallist will be training at Gloria Sports Arena for 61 days. He will be training from April 1 to May 31 and Target Olympics Podium Scheme (TOPS) will be funding his training there.

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) gave approval to Chopra’s proposal to train in Turkiye. The 25-year-old will be training along with his coach Klaus Bartonietz and his Physiotherapist. TOPS will fund their airfare, boarding and lodging, medical insurance, and local transportation expenses in Turkiye.

Last December, Neeraj was in the UK to train with his coach and support team. This year he will spend about two months in the earthquake-hit nation, which recently witnessed a disastrous situation, killing thousands.

He will be training for the Diamond League events and will look to repeat his last year’s Diamond trophy victory, while World Athletics Championships are also in line, where he won a silver medal last time.

Neeraj Chopra’s upcoming events:

Neeraj usually shares his training videos on social media and his last video showed him lifting weights in a gym. This year, apart from winning all the titles, he also has a target to hit the 90m golden mark, though at numerous occasions, the javelin thrower has said that he does not take any pressure of hitting the mark.
